Hand-carved from carefully selected Sardonyx and Cornelian shells, Del Gatto cameos transform natural layers of colour into miniature works of art. Each creation is shaped in Torre del Greco and may be presented loose or mounted in precious metal, sometimes enriched with gemstones.

Stories carved in shell
A Del Gatto cameo begins with the careful selection of a natural shell. Its layers, tones and curvature guide the hand of the engraver, who gradually reveals classical profiles, botanical motifs, landscapes and interpretations inspired by the history of art.
Selected natural shells
Sardonyx shell, traditionally sourced from Caribbean waters, offers refined chromatic contrast and is particularly suited to highly detailed miniature carving. Cornelian shell, sourced from the south-eastern African coasts, provides warm tones and remarkable versatility.
Entirely made by hand
Every stage is carried out by skilled artisans in Torre del Greco. Because the material is natural and the carving is manual, no two cameos can ever be identical. The finished piece may remain loose for collectors or become a pendant, brooch, ring or pair of earrings framed in gold or platinum.
